IT Contributions to the Realization of an Operational GGOS Service (BKG)

For the generation of consistent geodetic-geophysical data series high requirements have to be posed on the technological, methodological and IT realization, to ensure a reliable data and information flow, as well as the integration, documentation and availability of data within the overall concept of this joint project. In WP2000 these requirements shall be investigated and converted into a system, which allows an integrated handling and processing of all relevant data of the global geodetic-geophysical observing system. In the context of the joint project "Integration der geodätischen Raumverfahren und Aufbau eines Nutzerzentrums im Rahmen des Internationalen Erdrotationsdienstes (IERS)" in the "Sonderprogramm GEOTECHNOLOGIEN" from 2002 to 2004 an IERS data and information system was established, which provides a fundamental basis, and which guarantees an integrated data flow from the very beginning of this project onward. The data and information system is the central component for the whole data exchange within this joint project (see Figure 2), and it can be considered as a prototype for a comparable international exchange of data within the IERS in the future. In WP2400 strategies for a data transfer (data of the observation stations) in near real-time are investigated exemplarily.
